International Sand Sculptures Symposium 1.-6. July 2008 in Võru

International Sand Sculptures Symposium „Võro liivaliin 2008“ takes place in Võru for the second time.
An event, where sculptors from different countries make sculptures from compressed sand is still one of a kind in Estonia. Artists create their works enchanted in knowing that the sculptures will only last awhile.
Preirrigated or moistened sand is pressed into plywood moulds. The completed work is saturated with intensifier. Depending upon the weather, the sculptures last from 3 weeks to one month.
In addition to Estonian sculptors, artists from Scotland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Lithuania participated in International Sand Sculptures Symposium 2007.
